Requiem
For My Mother
So
many times you
wiped away my
tears,
When way was
dark and journey
seemed so long.
You always found
the time to
soothe my fears;
When life was
sad you helped
me find a song.
You never
thought the
precipice too
steep,
No mountain was
too towering to
climb;
From you I
learned that
faith's enormous
leap
Would open up
the shutters of
the blind.
Oh, Mother dear,
my love for you
has grown,
I miss you more
than I could
ever say,
And even though
I know your
body's gone,
I feel you close
beside me every
day.
Mom, pain of
death cannot
keep us apart --
I'll always
carry you inside
my heart.
