A
POET'S COMMITMENT
The time will come, the poet said,
When all my words, at last, are read.
The chances now, I know, seem small;
I'm tempted to not write at all,
But write I must until I'm dead.
Despite rejection's daunting head,
I won't become dispirited,
Because if I stand firm and tall,
The time will come.
For by my pen the soul is fed;
I persevere, I've even bled,
And I shall never faint or fall
Until I write words that enthrall.
If by commitment I am led,
The time will come.
