FOR BLESSINGS WE
RECEIVE
Wouldn't it be
wonderful
if on
Thanksgiving Day
everybody in our
land
would bow their
heads and pray?
Wouldn't it be
wonderful
if Americans
everywhere
would count
their many
blessings
and say a
thankful prayer?
Wouldn't it be
wonderful
if each day in
the year
our thanks we
all would offer
for things that
we hold dear?
Wouldn't it be
wonderful
if we always
understood
that God alone
is Giver
of everything
that's good?
For God the
great Creator
gives blessings to
us all,
in the beauty of
a sunset
and the colored
leaves of fall.
The blessings
that He gives us
are in the
blueness of the
sky,
and in the
cheerful notes
of songbirds
as they go
flying by.
They're in the
raindrops gently
falling
and the pristine
winter snow,
in the cricket's
chirp at
twilight
and the silver
moon's bright
glow.
They're in the
breeze that
cools our
foreheads
on a hot and
humid day,
and in the
laughter of the children
as happily they
play.
Be we beggar,
rich man, poor
man,
with these things
we all are blest,
and to thank God
ever daily
should be our
earnest quest.
Oh, let no one's
voice be silent
on this
Thanksgiving
Day!
Our Lord is
always waiting
to hear
everybody pray.
So pause a
moment just to
thank Him;
it will only
take a while.
Your spirit will
be rekindled,
and it will
surely make God
smile.
