It
seems that
nowadays the
heart is
thoughtless
and people try
to buy cheer
from a store,
but years ago
when everybody
bought less
the Christmases
all meant a
whole lot more.
Back then the
spirit was a bit
contagious,
sans gifts of
gold exorbitant
in price,
for no one
purchased
anything
outrageous;
a simple
handmade gift
seemed to
suffice.
I, too, have
been caught up
inside the
flurry,
the frantic rush
to every
shopping mall,
where
everybody's
always in a
hurry,
and glitter has
the power to
enthrall.
This year I
think I'll make
a brand-new
start
and offer gifts
of love straight
from the heart.
