ONE OF A KIND

Before I die,
I want to carve out
a niche in life
that's mine
and mine alone.
I want to hew it
from unique timbers,
shape it with
eccentric fingers,
so that when I'm gone
no one will dare try
to fill my shoes --
or even want to.
