HOUSEWIFE BLUES
I need to get away awhile,
to find a clime of different face,
to capture again some youthful thoughts
and search for new realms of grace.
Long I've trod the same old path
where monotony rules without a laugh,
and simple chores are hard to finish.
I need fuel to replenish
my psyche, and my soul is craving
something new and stimulating.
Everyday I mop the floors
and do the mundane household chores.
I cook the meals and feed the kids
and try to do as the husband bids.
I'm getting old before my time --
oh yes, I need a different clime!
If I can find a brand-new pace,
my soul will gain a brighter face.
