MY PRAYER

In Your Book there is a promise
of a sweet peace and rest;
will You save me, Father,
if I try to do my best?

If I pray, Lord, without ceasing,
throughout the day and the night,
will You show me the Holy Spirit
 with an everlasting light?

Though my sins be black and many,
and my heart appears unclean,
will You forgive me, Father,
if I repent of all my sins?

Going down the lonely life-road
I find burdens hard to bear;
if I pray for Your help, Lord,
will You answer my humble prayer?

When my thoughts are ever roaming,
and I forget to think of You,
will you please remind me, Father,
of Your love so pure and true?
